Dr. Vega is a fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon specializing in sports medicine. Heoffers comprehensive treatment plans for a range of conditions, including sports-relatedinjuries, fractures, and bone and joint disorders. His services include ACL reconstruction,knee arthroscopy, rotator cuff and shoulder repair, and total knee and shoulderreplacement.Dr. Vega earned his medical degree from Baylor College of Medicine after completinghis undergraduate degree in bioengineering at Rice University. He then completed aninternship and orthopedic residency at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center,where he also served on the Orthopedic Resident Selection Committee. Following hisresidency, Dr. Vega completed a sports medicine fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine.Dr. Vega previously served as an assistant to the team physicians for professionalsports teams such as the Texans, Rockets, Dynamo, and Astros, as well as collegiate, highschool, and recreational athletes. He is actively involved in research concerning knee andhip biomechanics. His work on ACL and meniscal injuries has been published in theAmerican Journal of Sports Medicine, and in 2007, his research team received The FrankStinchfield Award from The Hip Society for their contributions to the biomechanics of the hiplabrum and hip stability.In his free time, Dr. Vega volunteers as the team physician for the Brazosport HighSchool football team.
